5 Ways to Get Motivate Yourself

It doesn’t matter if you’re feeling lazy to get up in the morning, if you’re feeling down from a recent setback, if something terrible happened to you, we all need the motivation to take on that next step. Believe me when I say you’re always going to how days when you feel down no matter how prosperous you are. This is where motivation comes in.

Motivation is that invisible hand that pushes you off your old bad habits, the invisible hand that pushes you to be better, the invisible hand that pushes you out of your comfort zone. When it comes to 5 Ways to Motivate Yourself believe me when I say your comfort zone can be as comfortable as it can be that you won’t even realize you have been stagnant for a long time. I personally motivate myself when I go to bed every night and when I wake up every morning with these five methods.

  • Aim to be Better, Not Perfect.
  • Build a Plan and Avoid Procrastination.
  • Listen to Motivational Speech and Past Stories.
  • Track your Progress.
  • Confidence is your Best Weapon.

There are many more ways you can motivate yourself other than these. Note that I am only trying to share a few methods I use to motivate myself.

Aim to be Better, Not Perfect

Trust me when I say this, you’re going to give up times without number if you try to be the best all the time. While there is also no harm in aiming to be the best, you must take it one step at a time. Remember there is a ladder to perfection which you cannot just jump over. Even if you have a million confidence in your skills, there is always someone out there who is going to be better. You can’t win all the time otherwise it won’t be life.

The aim is to build upon your skills and get better. If you continue aiming to improve, after some time of continuous practice, you would look back and see just how much you’ve progressed. If you keep trying to be the best from one jump, you’re always going to see the things ahead which you can’t do.

Build a Plan and Avoid Procrastination

After predetermining your goals (which is to be better and not perfect), you need to build a plan for yourself. Noe, I can’t tell you how to make your plan or the speed at which your plan should go because I don’t know what you’re trying to be better at. What I can say is whatever the plan you make, never procrastinate. Remember it takes only one excuse to begin procrastination. After that one excuse, you’re always going to make excuses to deviate from the plan you have set for yourself.

Listen to Motivational Speech and Past Stories

Another amazing one of the 5 ways to get motivated is listening to motivational videos. No matter what you’re trying to get better at, listening to people’s failures and success stories in that area would really boost your morale. If you don’t know where to get motivational videos, you could always check on YouTube.

Another thing you can try is listing to motivational playlists. I don’t know about you but when I’m trying to get something done and I’m about to procrastinate, I simply open up my custom-made playlist and I get lost in time. It really helped me do a lot I wouldn’t have done probably because of procrastination. Soundtracks are also a good way to get motivated no matter what it is you’re trying to get better at.

Track your Progress

This is an aspect of motivation that would really determine your urge to go further. If you have nothing to look back on and see just how much you’ve accomplished from the time you spent developing, then you might as well just give up. After developing your plan, I would recommend you take a pen and paper and write down milestones you’d get to follow the routine of your plan.

Each time you hit a milestone, you can simply check it off. Envisioning your success in a piece of writing would always keep you focused on the goal ahead all the time. Whenever you’re feeling like quitting, simply bring out that piece of writing and read it through.

Confidence is your Best Weapon

One thing most people fail out of even after motivating their selves with all the previous methods is self-confidence. You don’t need anyone to believe in you before you get something done. If you believe in yourself that you can do something, then you’ve already succeeded halfway.

Self-confidence is not something that’s easy to build, this is one of the reasons why you have to be sure you can do something before making a plan from the beginning. If you still see yourself far away from completing your goals a long time after you set them, you have already bought yourself a ticket to give up.

When I say a long time, what’s a long time can vary depending on the type of goals you set for yourself. Simply put, there are long-term goals and short-term goals. With that being said, live your life with purpose and always break free from your comfort zone. Thank You for reading 5 Ways to Motivate Yourself.
